Halsey is one of the few Hollywood celebrities that have never shied away from talking about mental health and other social issues. While she has always received praise for being super candid, this time, her opening up about her struggle with an eating disorder landed the singer in trouble.

It happened when the ‘Without Me’ singer participated in an ongoing social media trend, where followers ask their favorite celebrities to post a picture of certain moments on their Instagram stories.

One of the requests Halsey received was for a picture from her ‘lowest point’ in life. To this, the 26-years-old artist shared a picture of herself that triggered negative criticism from her followers.

In the picture that is presumably an old shot, Halsey is wearing only underwear and has captured her side profile. The singer looks dangerously thin in the photograph; it is captioned ‘TW: ED Ask for help’ with a purple heart.

The picture was posted on her Instagram story. Still, the trigger warning didn’t actually serve as a true warning as anyone going through her story would have already got an eyeful. The picture has since been deleted from her account.

If you want to see the picture that’s the topic of discussion, it is pasted right below. It’s quite an upsetting image, so here’s your TRIGGER WARNING.

Don’t scroll any further or zoom past the photo really fast, if you think it might be too much for you.

The ‘Manic’ artist started receiving backlash right off the bat, not labeling the triggering content properly. Halsey took to Twitter to respond to her fans, saying, “I don’t need to be yelled at in the name of being educated right now.

I made an honest mistake because I was nervous about sharing one of the worst times of my life with tens of millions of people. My desire to be confident overshadowed my knowledge of how to share triggering content.” The tweet has since been deleted.

The singer later apologized to her followers saying that it was never her intention to hurt anyone. “I am very sorry for posting a photo of myself depicting my struggle with ED without a sufficient trigger warning.

I was very nervous about posting it and didn’t think properly. I had positive intentions. I would never want to harm someone who shares my struggle, “she said.

Sharing such a sensitive personal experience with millions of people can be tricky. We believe that Halsey was coming from a genuine want to reach out to people who have had a similar experience. Still, because she had never said anything about having an eating disorder before, she made an honest mistake. We hope our favorite singer is in a much happier and healthier place now.

What’s concerning is that Halsey isn’t the only celebrity who has fought an eating disorder. Here are 12 celebrities who have also battled eating disorders.

1. Lady Gaga

It was in 2012 that Lady Gaga opened up about her struggle with bulimia. Speaking at an event, the singer said that wanting to be a skinny ballerina, she used to throw up all the time when she was in high school. It had a bad impact on her voice, so she had to stop.

But do not act like these jerk celebrities in any case!

The unreal expectations that these celebrities have to meet to be accepted on screen drive many of them towards extreme measures. The only way to battle this is to re-image what a beautiful body looks like. The femininity and masculinity ideals in our society need to be dismantled. Pronto!
