Netflix’s decision to continue investing in international
shows has allowed audiences to get familiar with a variety of cultures, giving
them exposure to stuff they’ve never before seen or experienced.

For those who have never been to Germany, for example, would
find this small town of Winden— and the complicated stories of its residents in
Netflix’s Skylines— far more
interesting than their own hometown.

Skylines cast: who is starring in the show?

Skylines' Netflix Review: Stream It Or Skip It?

As you know, around the web, the plot of “Skylines” revolves around Jinn, a
young enthusiastic rap music producer. The character is played on-screen by
Edin Hasanovic, who previously appeared in “Lara,” “Family Brown,” “You Are
Wanted” and “My End. Your Beginning.”

Another character named Sara is played by Peri Baumeister.
She has starred in a number of German movies and shows, including “The Last
Kingdom.”

Other cast members include, Murathan Muslu as Khalifa, Anna
Herrmann as Lily, Sahin Eryilmaz as Semir, Richy Muller as Raimund, Erdal
Yildiz as Ardan, Lisa Maria Potthoff as Celine, Slavko Popadic as Dejan, Carol
Shuler as Zilan, Dustin Shanz as Manuel and Carlo Ljubek as Miro.

All of these cast members would have reprised their roles if

Will
there be a season 2?

Meet Skylines star Murathan Muslu: Austrian actor rises to Netflix fame

Sorry to break this to you but Skylines will no longer be returning for season 2 on Netflix. Yes,
a really sad news!

In case you don’t know, the six-episode series explores
different aspects of life of the residents of Frankfurt.

The city is known for
being the birth ground of hip-hop music, as it is known for the drug trade that
significantly dominates its culture; the life in this city is a story itself,
which has been masterfully portrayed by the show’s protagonist.

A perfect
fusion of music and crime, Skylines is
a thrilling crime series and highly entertaining to all, regardless of your
interest (or lack, thereof) in crime thrillers.

Unfortunately, the thriller/Sci fi didn’t receive the desired response
from the audience—something that’s required to keep a show afloat.

Moreover,
the streaming giant got itself into a major conflict with Jan Lehman, the real
owner of Skylines Records, who claimed that Netflix has deliberately used the
title of its record label, which was launched in 2003.

Lehman accused Netflix for spoiling the image of its brand
by portraying rampant scenes of crime and drug trafficking under the same name.
Therefore, he asked court for a restraining order against the streamer. This
gave him the authority to pull the plug on the series (if he won the case).

Well, this isn’t the first time that the steamer has got
into such trouble with one of its originals. If you have watched the Netflix
Original movie called “The Laundromat,” you would know that the movie has been
marketed to be “based on actual secrets.” And somebody didn’t want those
secrets to get out, as the streamer was almost sued for it.

“This lawsuit was a frivolous legal stunt designed to censor
creative expression,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “This film
tells an important story about the exploitation of innocent people and the
misuse of the world’s financial system.”

To put in a nutshell, Netflix managed to win the case, and
we can still stream the movie “The Laundromat” on Netflix. Well, that makes
this movie incredibly interesting, doesn’t it?

Obviously, for those who live for controversies, content
like Skylines and The Laundromat has definitely been on their “to watch” list.

But this time, Netflix took the shortcut and decided to end
the series instead of getting into a long and tiring legal battle. The series’
star, Edin Hasnovic has confirmed this news himself on his Instagram account.

Sorry, I know you might find it disappointing, but your
favorite German show is not coming back for a second season, as it officially
stands cancelled by Netflix.

Since Mystery Skylines is a
Netflix original, the series won’t be streaming at any other streaming channel.
Once it’s cancelled, it’s gone forever— unless the streamer has a change of
heart. Who knows…?
