Several times in the past, actor Evan Rachel Wood repeatedly
talked about her horrifying experience of abuse she had to go through for years
by her anonymous ex. This time, she finally revealed the identity of her
abusive ex.
“The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson,” Wood wrote in a shocking Instagram post on early
Monday morning. “He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically
abused me for years.
I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done
living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this
dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he
ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be
silent.”
Previously, several other women’s allegations also came out
who accused Mason of abusive behavior. Those abuse allegations revealed terrifying accounts of
abuse including mental and physical torture, intimidation, sexual assault,
violence and various other forms of harassment.
In 2018, actress Charlyne Yi raised allegations of
harassment against Mr. Mason in a series of now-deleted tweets. Dan Cleary, the
former assistant of Mason, also tweeted in September 2020, revealing that he
had seen Mason being abusive to many.
With allegations come consequences…
Loma Vista, the record-label that launched Marilyn Manson’s
latest music, released a statement on Monday, saying that it will no longer
promote his music in the wake of Rachel Wood’s abuse allegations.
“In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel
Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will
cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately,” the statement
reads. “Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work
with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”
Not only this, Mason is also dropped from a TV series Creepshow which was scheduled to air on
AMC Networks. California State Senator Susan Rubio also wrote a letter to
Acting Attorney General Monty Wilkinson, requesting him to launch an
investigation against Mason in light of the allegations.
After being kicked out from
his record-label, Loma Vista and from his TV series, Manson responded to the
accusations on his Instagram account, categorically denying all allegations
without mentioning any of his alleged victims in specific, “Obviously, my art
and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims
about me are horrible distortions of reality.
My intimate relationships
have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of
how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the
truth.”
Golden Globe-nominated actress Wood is now 33 years old,
widely known for her role in HBO’s Westworld.
She also voiced Queen Iduna in “Frozen 2.” She started her career in Hollywood as
a child and also got nominated for Golden Globe in the category of a versatile adolescent in 2003 drama “Thirteen.” She began her relationship with the singer
at the age of 18; Mason was 38 years old at that time. The two were also
engaged in 2010 for a short while before breaking up.
Wood has spoken about her alleged mental and physical abuse
several times. In an effort to get the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill passed in
all the 50 states of America, Wood was testified before a House Judiciary
Subcommittee.
She said, “My experience with domestic violence was this:
Toxic mental, physical and sexual abuse which started slow but escalated over
time, including threats against my life.” However, she did not reveal the name
of her abuser.
Mason is an abusive, manipulative person who intimidated
Wood for several years. In 2009, Mason said in one interview, “I have fantasies
every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.” Later, his
represented denied the comments, stating that he was just promoting his new record
and not a statement.
The allegations against Mason have rocked the entertainment
industry. Among the women who came out in solidarity with 33-years-old actress is Mason’s former fiancé, Rose McGowan, who tweeted on Monday saying that
she stands with Rachel.
