“The year has been complicated” were the words the famous pop singer uttered after receiving the artist of the year award. Even though she specified that all the difficulties were not “public”, we still know that the year was packed with controversies for the singer.
She dominated the AMAs with her star-studded performance and collected several accolades, making history in the music industry. The previously-held record of most AMA wins by Michael Jackson was swiftly passed to her as she now has 29 total awards as compared to Jackson’s 25.
She celebrated her decade-long dominion over the music industry, and her fans came out to fully support her. She took a trip down memory lane with songs like “Love Story” and “I knew you were trouble’ claiming that she is indeed capable of rocking the world with previous hits.
If you have not followed the week-long dispute of Taylor Swift with her record label Big Machine owned by Borchetta and Braun, her performance would make little sense to you. If you want to know the full story regarding the scandal, here’s the link:

Many critics are calling the performance a subtle shade on the record label as they believe that by singing the songs from her albums that are owned by Braun, she showed them who the real owner is.
Previously, Taylor Swift made a statement, accusing the music label of preventing her from performing songs from the albums Fearless and Red. This sparked up the controversy, and Scooter Braun denied all the allegations saying, that he would never even think of doing so.
However, many supporters, also known as swifties, took the matter to Twitter and brought the old hashtag of #WestandwithTaylor to display their solidarity with the artist.
But it seems like she has finally buried the hatchet by publicly declaring sole authority over her music. She started the performance with ‘The Man’ from the recent album Lover, and it was obvious that she was trying to show them who was “the man” in this scenario. The song was followed by previous 2008 rhythm of Love story, and the crowd went ballistic with joy. And when we say the stage was star-studded we mean this:

Halsey and Camila Cabello jammed to “Shake it off” as background vocals with Swift and the singer ended her performance with a beautiful piano cover of “Lover”. The lights illuminated to reveal an ecstatic Taylor Swift, and it was hard to tell if it was a music award show or her personal concert!
The AMAs took to their official Twitter account to announce that she has broken the record of Michael Jackson and fans couldn’t be happier. The influence the star has had on pop culture in the last decade clearly makes her worthy of the singer of the decade award.

Dressed in a glittery ensemble of robes, the singer stepped on stage to receive the final award of the night. She said, “The last year of my life has had some of the most amazing times and also some of the hardest things I’ve gone through”. It was an emotional night for the You Need to Calm Down singer as her parents were present in the audience, watching their daughter create history. One of Taylor’s best friends, Selena Gomez also cheered her from the stands, as she proudly clapped for the superstar.
