Did the
devil really do it?
The wait is finally over! The
Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, the third installment of the Conjuring and the eighth movie of the Conjuring universe, no, actually, ninth…
it depends how you slice it!
It’s the third installment of the primary movies based on the
creepy adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren. But if we consider three movies of
Annabelle, The Nun and The Curse of La
Llorana, all of which are based on the couple’s encounters with evil,
ghosts and whatnot, then it’s the ninth instalment of the franchise.
Whatever way you classify it, all of these movies are BOATS
(based on a True Story), focusing on the Warren’s highly-frightening
(debatable, we rather say!) encounters with the creepy dudes lurking in the
abandoned house, place or sometimes even in a doll.
Anyways, the movie is now streaming on HBO Max, and by the
look of it, we assure you that this shit is definitely going to make you pee
your pants!
Horror sequels are famously known for messing up the
consistency or failing to meet the benchmark set by its predecessors. It either
falls short of the jump scares or any scares of such sort, or sometimes it
fails to make any sense!
While the shared universe has its fair share of lows and
highs, the latest instalment looks promising and aims to keep up the high
standard of critical acclaim and fans excitement that welcomed the first two
demonic encounters of the Warrens.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are reprising their role as
paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in the horror franchise from
director Michael Chaves and producer James Wan. The film is based on the
real-life court trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, where the first time a murderer
claims demonic possession as a defense!
The supernatural movie also features Sarah Catherine Hook,
Ruairi O’Connor, Julian Hilliard, and John Nobel.
The
Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It releases in cinemas simultaneously
on HBO Max on 4th June. Fans and critics took to Twitter to express
their thoughts on the movie, so let’s check them out!
It’s
spooktacular
THE CONJURING: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT changes up the established formula a bit, but the series remains what I like to call “spooktacular.” As long as Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga keep making these, I will watch them. #TheConjuring #TheConjuringTheDevilMadeMeDoIt pic.twitter.com/bjKRZB7GwD

You might
wanna keep the light on while you sleep after watching this!
#TheConjuring #TheDevilMadeMeDoIt is a fantastic next chapter in the franchise! It’s got so much heart and a love story at its core. I got so invested that I forgot to eat dinner while watching the screener. No spoilers, but I slept with the light on. pic.twitter.com/jPZR1GAVfC

It’s
freakishly demonic and bone-chilling on all the right spots!
THE CONJURING: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT is freakishly demonic & bone-chilling in all the right spots, featuring a sensational opening sequence & a waterbed scene that rivals any creepy moment from the franchise so far. Wild that it’s based on a real story, too. #TheConjuring pic.twitter.com/8HxIRkNHtI

This
is going to be a solid watch!
Happy to report that The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is solid. It has issues dovetailing the reality of the case and its fictional horror spin, but it’s great to see the Warrens on an investigation, and there are more than a few exciting and well-orchestrated scares. pic.twitter.com/AYIYKrIGz7

It
will crawl under the skin!
#TheConjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It isn’t as scary or unnerving as its predecessors, but has a few spooky sequences. Some aspects, while unexpected, struggle to keep mystery & curiosity at a fever-pitch. Not bad, not great. Vera Farmiga & Patrick Wilson are vivid & compelling. pic.twitter.com/vJzaIlU5mw

The Conjuring movies are love stories and nobody can change my mind about that. #Conjuring3 pic.twitter.com/qNegv16c5y

It seems like the Warrens’ latest outing with the devil lives
up to the hype! There is a noticeable change in the storyline of the latest
instalment, hinting that The Conjuring
is leaving behind the haunted house aspect of the original flicks for something
much intense and more enormous in scale!
