The Real Reason Scooter Braun Sold Taylor Swift’s Masters to Shamrock Holdings

Maybe because his fragile masculinity was
being threatened!

For
the second time in a year and a half, the recording rights of Taylor Swift’s
first six albums have traded hands without the singer’s involvement, and this
time it was sold to Shamrock Holdings for over $300 million. Sounds like a familiar story?

Well, just
last year, mega-manager and music business expert Scooter Braun’s Itcha
Holdings LLC acquired Big Machine Label Group (BMLG), the record label that
launched every Swift album through 2017’s Reputation.
Suddenly, Braun became the owner of the whole EMLG recorded music assets, thus
including the rights of all those first six albums of Swift.

On
Monday, the rumors about a major new catalogue sale started circulating in the Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun music industry, which supposedly involved Swift’s catalogue and Braun. By the
afternoon, the singer confirmed those rumors herself via her Twitter account.

*wondering how much did Scooter Braun pay for Taylor Swift catalog*…read on!

She wrote that her team got a letter, around a few weeks back, from some private company named Shamrock Holdings. They mentioned about buying the majority of my videos, album art and music from Scooter Braun. With her photo post in a signature style, she mentioned that this is not the first time my work is sold without my knowledge. According to her Scooter Braun told Shamrock Holdings not to contact her before the deal or there will be no deal whatsoever.

Swift
reminds her fans that she has been fighting to acquire the rights of her
masters for the past year.

Apparently,
Braun’s team would only entertain the singer’s negotiations only if she agrees
to sign “an ironclad NDA” that only permits her to see BMLG’s financial
records. It’s a standard aspect of the negotiation in which the singer has to
agree that she will never speak against Braun again.

Swift
mentioned that her legal consultants recommended her to refuse this offer
because of the bizzarity of their demands. She wrote that she was asked to sign some document that will keep her silence and for forever, stopping her from bidding on her work.

In
response to this, Swift dragged the private equity company, Shamrock Holdings,
only to find later that Braun had already sold them her records for over $300
million.

Even
then, she thought about partnering with Shamrock but she learnt that under the
contract Braun “will continue to profit off my old music” for years.

She
considered establishing a formal working relationship with Scooter Braun. More like “as a
non-starter”, prior announcing that she has, in fact, begun re-recording the
MBLG-era songs.

All
she needs now is unprecedented support from her fans. If she gets her fans’
support and convinces them into streaming her songs only from the
Swift-approved releases once they’re launched, she would then make a profit from
those albums and will be able to download them as the performer.

But
the teeny tiny problem is that fans have to go beyond in order to boycott her
original albums, which will probably remain up across all the major platforms.

Shamrock stated on media that Taylor Swift is a great artist having a timeless catalog. The reason they invested in this we want to capitalize on the great opportunity and value associated with Taylor’s work. They said that they support and respect her views and decisions. They wished to formally partner but already anticipated the outcome and have considered that. They appreciated Taylor for her professionalism and communication in the last week and hoped that they will continue partnering with her in different ways onwards while valuing her and other artists’ work.

It’s
just sad how she’s been struggling to acquire the rights of her own hard work.
I mean, it’s kind of her life’s work, sense of purpose etc. Regardless of the
legal complications, it must be devastating for the artist for not being able
to perform her own work.

Her
case is the classic example of why you should always read all terms and
conditions before signing the contract! Her dad has really failed her here; he
should’ve thought about how she is going to feel at age 30.

But
again…

Braun
has stooped so low to take advantage of her; he’s just talentless trash and a
glorified businessman who only wants to make money out of someone else’s work for his investment fund!

If
he had an ounce of integrity and soul, he would have given her the rights
without a non-disclosure agreement that would have prevented her from saying
anything bad about him. Talk about fragile masculinity!

Taylor
deserves more than some egocentric manipulative man trying to shut her up! Her
fans would really be hoping that she makes those re-recordings quick and karma
can get to Braun soon enough!

Unfortunately,
Taylor Swift isn’t the only artist suffering from these shitty business deals
in the music industry. Many artists in the past have signed deals that are far worse
than hers. She is not the first and won’t be the last one. It’s just business,
a bad one if you ask me!

Swift
also accused Scooter—who also manages Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande — of “manipulative, incessant bullying.”

Last
year, Braun told a private news organization that his fight with the artist had
“gotten out of hand” after he and his family received alleged death threats.

I think there are a lot of real problems in
the world and I think that these problems that are being discussed can be
discussed behind closed doors and figured out pretty easily, and it’s something
I’ve wanted to do for six hours,
” he told the media.

Well,
it looks like he only wants to take revenge against Swift for speaking against
him in public! That’s why he sold Swift’s masters to Shamrock Holdings, so that
she could shut her up while benefiting from her albums for a “really long
time.”

Now
her fans are anxiously anticipating for her old re-recorded albums to come out,
so that they can help Swift in her fight to regain the ownership of her
previous songs.

I can’t wait for you to hear what I’ve been
dreaming up
,” she shared with the fans on Twitter until we have more Taylor Swift Scooter Braun update and while the war between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun Twitter goes on…
