Based on the new account released by the state on Wednesday, there are now 28,509 active cases of Coronavirus in Michigan now. Additionally, the death toll has also increased to 1,921 in the last couple of days. In the last 15 hours, 153 deaths have been reported.

On average, the median age of those deceased is 73.3 years old, and the overall age range is of 20 – 107. Below a proper breakdown of the age average is discussed.

There has been just one case of Coronavirus between the ages of 1-19 and that person has fully recovered. 9% of cases have been reported of people in their 20s and less than 1% of deaths have been counted. A 4% increase is obvious amongst the age group 30-39 with the same 1% of deaths. 16% of cases of Coronavirus are of people between the ages of 40 and 49.

This group reports 5% of the death count. The death toll doubles in people in their 50s. 18% of the cases are being reported among people in their 60s out of which 18% of deaths have been confirmed. 13% of cases have been identified in people in their 70s and 10% of case are of people in their 80s. Finally, 28% of deaths have been reported amongst people in their 70s while 37% of deaths are confirmed among the people in their 80s.

54% of these cases have been women. Meanwhile, 45% of these figures are of men. However, it seems as though women have a higher rate of survival as 57% of the deaths are of males and 43% of them are women.

Although Michigan ranks forth on the number of cases, it stands on the third place in death. The other states are New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.

On a slightly reassuring note, 433 people have recovered from the virus. The state has promised to confirm the statistics every Saturday. By recovery, it means that the individual who was once tested positive for COVID-19 is alive 30-days post-on-set.

In addition to this, the State Governor has also said that the infection rate in Michigan is starting to flatten. However, she wants the residents of Michigan to understand that this is just the beginning and they still have a long way to go before they can completely get rid of this virus.

We’ve got to make sure that we avoid a second wave at all costs. That would be devastating for our economy. So we’re going to make decisions based on science and having a real strategic phase-in of our economy when it’s appropriate and safe to do.” – said Whitmer.

Although some people are trying to make things political, Whitmer has made it very clear that her decision of lockdown was only to protect lives.

In Michigan, Wayne County has the most concerning number with 884 deaths and 12,544 cases of Coronavirus. Oakland County is not behind, as it reports a total of 5,576 cases and 392 deaths.

This is followed by Macomb County which currently has 3,792 active cases and 330 deaths. Genesee County reports 1,084 cases of Coronavirus and 89 deaths. And Washtenaw County has 798 active cases and 24 deaths.

The only way Michigan can stop the spread of Coronavirus is through the maintenance of social distancing. The numbers will keep increasing if they continue to storm the grocery stores or take public transports without proper healthcare measures. These setbacks are temporary, and people must follow the orders of the state officials to ensure the safety of everyone around them.

Stay safe and stay home.
