A far-right insurrection attempt has shaken the US Capitol, Washington DC. On January 6th, while a joint session of Congress was in progress to count the Electoral College votes of the newly elected President Joe Biden, a pro-Trump demonstrator rushed into the building. This forced the lawmakers to stop the count and seek shelter in the building or evacuate.
Some of the rioters were successful in breaking into the chambers and offices of the lawmakers. This action has undermined the millions of American’s votes in the presidential election of 2020.
Here’s the ten most terrifying videos of riot at US Capitol.
Analysts and politicians are claiming that the riot was incited by President Donald Trump, who has organized and spread conspiracies and false claims of voter fraud on right-wing social media. He convinced his followers that the election was illegally stolen from him.
Neither Trump nor his team has been able to collect and present meaningful evidence of any such thing happening in the elections. Instead, they’re relying on propaganda and conspiracy theories.

At 10 am on Wednesday, a pro-Trump rally crowd gathered in Washington DC to protest against election fraud. At noon, the crowd was joined by President Trump, who addressed the demonstrators and urged the Vice President, Mike Pence to “do the right thing” and reject the electoral results. Trump also added, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard today.”
At around 2:15 pm, rioters broke the Capitol building’s glass gallery doors, and chaos takes over. Tear gas is fired in the rotunda and when the rioters don’t get under control, the Capitol police is forced to draw guns at the doors of the House chamber.
What happens next is tragic; a woman is shot dead inside the Capitol.
This woman is later identified as Ashli Babbitt, an ex-Air Force Veteran and a Trump supporter. She had served the United States Air Force for 14 years.

Babbitt was one of the hundreds of rioters who were storming the building. She was shot dead while trying to crawl through a broken window inside the Capitol building. Multiple videos of the scene have broken the internet since then.

According to the Daily Beast, Babbitt was a QAnon believer, which is a far-right conspiracy theory. QAnon believers are convinced that a group of Satan-worshipping pedophiles is running a global child sex-trafficking ring and they are plotting against President Donald Trump, fighting to dismantle the group.

Trump’s supporter lived in San Diego, in an area about 15 minutes from the border of Mexico. She was in town to join Trump’s Washington DC rally. Babbitt’s Twitter is full of Trump-inspired messages. She joined the social media website just a few days before the 2016 presidential election. Her profile has a stream of retweets from Trump’s attorney Lin Wood, as well as Trump’s own messages. There’s also a constant use of the hashtags #MAGA #TRUMP2020 on her Twitter.

On Monday, about two days before she died, Babbtti retweeted a message saying “Something big is happening.” Her last tweet on Tuesday says, “Nothing will stop us … they can try and try and try but the storm is here and it is descending upon DC in less than 24 hours … dark to light!”
Her family is devastated by the loss. Talking to the San Diego TV station, Babbtti’s husband said, “She was a “strong supporter” of President Trump.” Moreover, her mother-in-law commented on her trip to Washington to join the rally, saying, “I really don’t know why she decided to do this.” We hope that the family is able to find peace and solace in these difficult times.
It wasn’t just Babbitt who lost her life in the Capitol unrest, according to press reports, 3 other people died in the riots. They lost their lives because of medical emergencies.
The loss of human life is tragic no matter what, we hope things simmer down in the Capitol as soon as possible, so no more lives are lost, and no more pain is caused.
