CrossFit’s CEO has
resigned after he offended the massed by making crude remarks about the murder
of George Floyd and all the protests that followed it.

Greg Glassman was
forced to resign because the remarks resulted in athletes, gyms and multiple
sportswear firms cutting ties with his $4B brand.

He said that he was
aware of the “rift” he caused in the community and would soon resign.

If you’re not aware,
CrossFit is a branded exercise corporation that promotes high-intensity
workouts.

So, what happened?

Basically, a public
health department in the US said that racism was a public health issue and
should be treated immediately. In response, Greg Glassman tweeted on Saturday
night, saying “It’s FLOYD-19” which was a clear reference to COVID-19.

However, he didn’t just
stop there. He said, “Your failed model quarantined us and now you’re
going to model a solution to racism? George Floyd’s brutal murder sparked riots
nationally.”

After this, multiple
people started questioning the credibility of CrossFit and he called an
affiliate “delusional” because they asked why his company was silent on the
matter.

Even before this,
during a Zoom call with the gym owners, Mr. Glassman reportedly said, “We’re
not mourning for George Floyd – I don’t think me or any of my staff are. Can
you tell me why I should mourn for him? Other than that it’s the white thing to
do.”

The new CEO Dave Castro
has taken charge and said, “CrossFit is a community – one that is global,
diverse, and tough. Our community is hurt, though. Our shared bond brings
together millions of people with differing opinions, viewpoints, and
experiences.”
