David Attenborough, last week, debuted on Instagram and ended up becoming the fastest account to
reach one million Instagram followers in hours – beating Jennifer Aniston!
This terrific Naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough, breaking world record, took only 4 hrs and 44 minutes to make the record, and since
then, his followers have only quadrupled!
The Instagram throne
was previously held by Jennifer Aniston who joined Instagram last year in
October. She made history by gathering 1 million followers in 5 hrs and 16
minutes. Before her, the same honor was shared by Pope Francis, David Beckham, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It’s wild to witness the 94-year-old broadcaster with a seven-decade long career beating them all with
an astounding time record!
According to his first-ever Instagram video, Attenborough says that he made this move to explore the new communication platform to discuss the problematic world. The melting glaciers, firing continents, dying fishes and disappearing oceans are just a few things to mention.
He wishes to use the
online platform to tackle environmental concerns and share potential solutions
with the younger audience.
The hopeful Attenborough says that he feels privileged that people will listen to what I (an old bloke) is actually saying.
Attenborough is not
finished; he has a new documentary premiering on Netflix on the 4th
of October. It’s called A Life on Our Planet. In the documentary, he’ll be
recalling the natural wonders of the world that he’s experienced throughout his
life as well as the destruction beyond repair.
“Human
beings have overrun the world. This film is my witness statement and my vision
for the future”– he says in the documentary trailer.
Attenborough has
managed to make several Guinness World Records in the past. First, he did it
when his debut documentary called Planet Earth became the most on-demand
documentary in TV history. In addition, he also holds the record
for the longest career holder as a TV presenter and TV naturalist!
He took the song ‘Don’t
Stop Believing’ too seriously, and we’re happy that he did!
