Mayor de Blasio has still not commented on the matter.
Saturday morning began with peaceful protests in New York with many protestors leaning on one knee in front of the police officers to signify the murder of George Floyd, who was choked to death by a cop. However, as evening approached, the protests took a violent turn, and people started burning cars. The police said that some objects were also thrown at them.

Before his daughter’s arrest, Mayor de Blasio voiced his concerns about George Floyd’s murder and said that “structural racism haunts the lives of people of color.”

“What we’re seeing is an overflow due to decades of injustices,” de Blasio tweeted. “I see my own privilege and can only understand so much. I know enough to say that for the Black community every day is pervaded by racism. We will do better.”
