Social distancing has been difficult for everyone, especially for people whose lives are already quite limited. They do not have many resources to go out and enjoy even during normal days, so corona is proving to be more convenient for them.

Therefore, seniors in an assisted facility in Wales have come up with a solution. They are trying to remain positive during the pandemic with the game of human-sized Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Going out is not an option for them since they are already more vulnerable to the virus, so the nursing home is taking measures to substitute the daily hour of outdoor entertainment with this activity.

Bryn Celyn Care Home is bringing all the people in the facility to come together and participate in life-sized board games. They attach baskets to long poles, set out a pile of pit balls and the seniors on wheelchairs act as “hippos” for the human version of Hungry Hungry Hippos. Watch this adorable video here:

If you live in South Wales and want to participate in this game during novel coronavirus, BBC journalist Catrin Nye says that the nursing home is employing caretakers to help them.
