While the world is battling against coronavirus and coming up with strategies to deal with the pandemic, world leaders like Trump are busy doing what they do best- create controversy.

Mr President has once again proved that virus or no virus, he can never take the world seriously, and by that we mean, consider people of colour humans. If you are thinking about how to be racist even in such dire situations, then the President of the most powerful country has amazing notes for you-quite literally.

This past week, Mr Trump has called coronavirus “Chinese virus” in his press conference more times than he has tested negative for the virus. He was found defending the term, and when questioned about his inherent bigotry, he was quick to defend his racism. What a surprise!

He said that he loved all the citizens of the country, and we agree because none of his past actions stand in stark contrast with his claim. He said that the virus comes from China, so he calls it the “Chinese virus”. This is why we think that the next time America holds elections, and he doesn’t get re-elected we will call it the “American Cure!”

Many world leaders and health organizations agree that the term is extremely racist and promotes the already embedded culture of bigotry against Asian Americans. However, Trump remains persistent and says, “I have a great love for all of the people from our country, but as you know China tried to say at one point … that it was caused by American soldiers. That can’t happen. It’s not gonna happen, not as long as I’m President. It comes from China.”

Well, counting the list of things that can happen while he is the President makes China’s claims seem almost harmless.

“China was putting out information, which was false, that our military gave this to them. That was false. And rather than having an argument, I said I had to call it where it came from. It did come from China. So, I think it’s a very accurate term. I think saying that our military gave it to them creates a stigma.”

Oh yes, creating a stigma against white people? It’s wrong because we all know that stigma should only be created against marginalized people of colour. Got it!

Also, if you think that Trump just created a blunder and is now being defensive to counter the backlash, then you couldn’t be more wrong. The President does not carry out any action without thinking. A lot of bigotry and hatred goes into being the President of a superpower, and he is winning with zero competition.

A picture of the documents from which he gave the remarks on Thursday was released yesterday. You can clearly see that he has edited the term coronavirus with Chinese virus everywhere on the page with his infamous sharpie.

Well, the effort that goes into editing the entire speech just to be racist is exactly the kind of contribution people of the United States are expecting from him.

Also, China is the only country that is dealing with coronavirus efficiently, while America’s lack of initial response is creating problems within the country. So we hope they get a bit of “Chinese cure” and start dealing with their citizens the way Chinese medical experts have.
