Twitter Sends Support and Trends #MyNameIs after a GOP Senator Mocked Kamala Harris

Georgia Senator David
Perdue introduced Donald Trump as Mr. Class at a rally in Macon on Friday. Of
course, he could keep his cool when it was time to pronounce Kamala Harris, Biden’s
running mate.

This was truly
juvenile. He didn’t only pronounce her name incorrectly repeatedly, but he also
mocked her. Here’s a clip of when the moment actually happened:

Anyway, his campaign
later released a statement in defense:

“Senator
Perdue simply mispronounced Senator Harris’ name, and he didn’t mean anything
by it.”

Hey, any reasonable
person watching the clip above can sense what is going on. This isn’t an
innocent mispronunciation, he clearly intended to mock Harris. You can release
as many statements as you please, the facts can’t be changed.

Many people sensed this
and openly criticized his tone and called him not just disrespectful but also
racist. Many people chose to respond to his blatant racism via hashtag
#MyNameIs on Twitter, where they shared information about the etymology of
their own names.

As far as Kamala’s beautiful
name is concerned, it means “lotus” or “pale red”, and it originates from a
word in Sanskrit. It is also another name for the Hindu
Goddess, Lakshmi.
