President Donald Trump has
Coronavirus and many people find this chucklesome during the ongoing battle with COVID-19.
Okay, let’s be honest:
it’s not nice to wish death upon a 74-year-old person, even if he’s a
sociopath. So, realizing this, Twitter has decided to
remind people of a policy which has been in place since April – a policy that
suspends users for hateful comments and abusive behavior.
The policy suspends
users’ accounts that post “content that
wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm or fatal
disease against an individual.”

In fact, one of the
examples on the site clearly mentions that “hoping
that someone dies as a result of a serious disease” will be considered
abusive.
Hence, recently when it
was announced that Trump and Melania have contracted COVID-19, the entire
social media went into delirium. In very few minutes, #TrumpHasCovid and #CovidCaughtTrump
starting trending worldwide.
While some people sent
thoughts and prayers for the President, others started celebrating and called
it Karma. Things then went south when a small but significant number of users
starting wishing death upon the President, even comparing it with a Simpsons episode.
Right now, Trump is
being treated at Walter Reed Medical Centre, and among other treatments, one is
an experimental one. He went there via a military helicopter and will be
staying in the hospital for a couple of more days.
But others also used Twitter
to express the hope that the pandemic would result in the President’s death.
A twitter
representative said: “We’re prioritizing
the removal of content when it has a clear call to action that could
potentially cause real-world harm.”
We wish Donald and
Melania Trump a quick recovery!
