One more thing, affected by the deadly coronavirus, has been added to the list as NBA suspends the season due to the risk. A player tested positive for the symptoms of COVID-19 on Wednesday and the game scheduled for the day was postponed.

Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder players were in the court at the Chesapeake Energy Arena before the game until abruptly summoned to the locker room. The NBA has reported that even though the player who tested positive for the virus was not present, they still had to take precautionary measures. “The NBA is suspending gameplay following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice. The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic”, said the spokesperson for NBA.

The game between New Orleans Pelicans and the Sacramento Kings was also cancelled and fans had to leave the court in utter disappointment. The referee who was supposed to mediate the game between the two teams was previously stationed at Utah Jazz game, so they decided to avoid risk and nix the match.Utah Jazz said that a player showed signs of influenza and strep throat on Wednesday but he tested negative for coronavirus. “The individual’s symptoms diminished over the course of today, however, as a precautionary measure, and in consultation and cooperation with NBA medical staff and Oklahoma health officials, the decision was made to test for COVID-19,” said the team.

Now the team management is making sure that whoever works in close contact with the side player is tested, so they do not have to face any more inconvenience. Pistons head coach, Dwane Casey said it was a wise move and all other leagues should cancel events until the authorities get the situation under control.
