Vanessa Bryant Reflects On “Heartbreaking” Grief as Husband’s One-Year Death Anniversary Approaches

Last year was
emotionally heavy for all of us, and for many common reasons. Apart from the
global pandemic, the tragedy that struck a chord with many was the untimely
death of NBA-player, Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant.

What was even more
unfortunate than the accident itself was the fact that his family found out about
the death of their beloved through news outlets and not directly from an inside
source. It must have been traumatic to be ripped of the chance to speak to your
loved one or to even mourn their loss alone.

Vanessa Bryant, wife of
the stellar NBA star, spoke about the one-year anniversary of death of her husband, Kobe Bryant
and their daughter, Gianna Bryant. She opened up about grief and how it settles
in the heart over time, creating a void that never fills as the first anniversary of the tragedy approaches.

As the one-year death
anniversary of the lost souls approaches, the 38 year-old wife and mother has used
her Instagram Story to express her grief. She wanted to be real and maybe
that’s why her words mean so much to all Kobe Bryant fans around the world.

“Let
me be real, grief is a messed up cluster of emotions. One day you’re in the
moment laughing and the next day you don’t feel like being alive.”

– she said on 15th January on her Instagram Story.

She continued: “I want to say this for people struggling
with grief and heartbreaking loss. Find your reason to live. I know it’s hard.
I look at my daughters and I try to push through that feeling for them. Death
is guaranteed but living the rest of the day isn’t. Find your reason.”

Coming out as a strong
woman, she is telling people to feel the loss but not get consumed by it. It’s
important to recognize and acknowledge the feeling, but it’s equally important
to use healthy ways to overcome and survive it.

One shouldn’t neglect their own
life because someone close to them lost theirs. We must find reasons to live
and carry on – for ourselves and for the ones who are still here and love us.

Last

daughter were killed in an unfortunate helicopter crash near Calabasas,
California. Kobe Bryant was survived by his partner and three wonderful
daughters. Apart from Gianna, lovingly called Gigi, Kobe and Vanessa also have
Natalia Bryant (17), Bianka Bryant (4), and Capri Bryant (18-month-old).

After Kobe and Gianna’s deaths, Vanessa has occasionally shared her feelings on the social media

On Father’s Day, which
was supposed to be his 42nd birthday and also the day they both fell
in love, she honored him with beautiful posts on Instagram.

In the post, she wrote:
To my baby – Happy birthday. I love you
and miss you more than I can ever explain. I wish you and Gigi were here to
celebrate YOU. I wish i could make your fav food or a birthday cake with my
Gigi. I miss your big hugs, your kisses, your smile, your loud ass deep laugh.
I miss teasing you, making you laugh and bursting your bubble. I miss you
sitting on my lap like my big baby that you are. I think about your tenderness
and patience all the time. I think about everything you would do in situations
to help me deal with everything thrown my way. I love you now, forever, and
always.”

Furthermore, she was
also there to honor his team, the LA Lakers, who won the 2020 NBA Finals.
