Studio Trigger is an
anime production company that includes former members of studio Gainax. The
latest update is that this production company is producing Cyberpunk 2077 anime
which is set to release on Netflix in 2022. It will be called Cyberpunk: edgerunners and its supposedly a standalone story set in the world of developer
CD Projekt Red’s upcoming action game.

This is what it will
look like as per the official description:

CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS tells a standalone,
10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in technology and body
modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses
to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a
cyberpunk.

Although the members of
Trigger include members of seminal anime productions like Neon Genesis
Evangelion, it is actually more popular because of its highly stylistic,
unusual narratives and experimental artistic styles. Most of the famous works
produced by this company are Kill la Kill, Darling in the Franxx, and the
recent blockbuster film Promare.

The cast and crew
working on Cyberpunk: Edgerunner is another reason why this anime production
will be super successful. The studios have hired the best talents in the
industry like Hiroyuki Imaishi is on board as the director. He previously
worked on Gianax’s Gurren Lagann, Promare and Kill la Kill. Character designers
include Yoh Yoshinari and Yuto Kaneko whereas the screenplay is adapted by
Yoshiki USA and Masahiko Otsuka. The original score is set to be composed by
Akira Yamaoka who previously worked on Silent Hill.

Cyberpunk 2077 will launch
in November on all streaming platforms but the production has its own set of
delays as the creators want to elevate the experience of the audience and fix
all the bugs before it’s released.

Obviously, it’s going
to be the biggest gaming event of the last decade, but interestingly, its
launch will coincide with the next-gen console launches from both Sony and
Microsoft. This is truly great news for all the gaming fans around the world!
