There will come a time when you’ll have to watch an ad before picking up phone calls!

If you hate ads, you’ll also hate this new update by Apple. So, basically, the apps available on the Apple Store can now send promotional links and ads as push-notifications. Obviously, the user has to enable the option on their phone first.

Apple implemented the change on Wednesday. So once you enable the feature, you’ll find many ads alongside the notifications of your texts and breaking news alerts. For so long, Apple has been known to be strict about notifications regarding “advertising, promotions, or direct marketing purposes” – which is no longer the same.

Interestingly, Apple also found this occasion as an opportunity to scrutinize dating and fortune-telling apps. Furthermore, it clarified that all ads will be rejected if the apps don’t “provide a unique, high-quality experience.”

In addition to this, apps that are “used to commit or attempt to commit crimes of any kind by helping users evade law enforcement” are also banned.
