Bloomberg says that Apple will make an announcement regarding shifting away from Intel processors to its own ARM-based chips this month at WWDC 2020. The conference is scheduled for 22nd June and will be held online due to the pandemic.
The rumors about Apple using ARM-based processors have been circulating for a long time but Bloomberg says that the company is ready to take the decision and the first Mac with an ARM-based processor will be released in 2021.

The hardware would not be released any time soon but developers would require time to adjust to the ARM-based software so they expect Apple to make the announcement soon.
According to Bloomberg, this decision was taken after ARM-based tech showed better performance than Intel processors, the latter being quite slow. If Apple decides to use ARM-based processors in all its devices, then future Macs will be thinner and lighter.
So after fifteen years, Apple has finally decided to change its processor.
Previously, in 2005 Steve Jobs announced that the company would be switching from PowerPC to Intel.
