Electric vehicles are no longer the transportation of the future because the future is here!

Many companies, including Tesla, Nissan, General Motors, and Aptera Motors, have delivered some of the most efficient electric cars of the time. And what’s mindboggling is that they’re continuously working to make it even better.

Electric vehicles have many benefits: not only are they the best option for environmentally conscious people (fewer emissions), they also help you save a lot of money. All you have to do is charge the car before using it. But you know what, you might not even have to charge it anymore.

Yes, you read that right.

Aptera Motors has made a comeback to the front lines after almost a decade, with an announcement that left many awestruck. The company has come out with an electric vehicle that requires no charging for almost the entire day; the car is run by the power of the sun and has a range of 1000 miles.

The three-wheel Aptera has a unique look of an airplane fuselage without wings. Here are a few more incredible facts you need to know about Aptera’s “never charge” solar EV:

It goes five times farther

Correct. Aptera goes five times farther than any other electric vehicle that has the same size as the solar charging system. It requires energy as less than 100Wh to go a mile. This is an important feature, thanks to its unique aerodynamic design. The car is extremely lightweight, which makes it 2.5 times more efficient than the Tesla Model 3 EV.

Solar power and battery

The solar cells in the car are enough to charge the battery so that it goes an additional 41 miles per day in ideal conditions. If the users ever need to go beyond that, they have the options to plug it in and charge the car. However, they’ll hardly have to use this feature, as most people travel only up to 30 miles per day on average. What’s exciting about Aptera is that it’s been classified as the world’s first “Never Charge” EV.

The vehicle can be charged in many different ways, including the standard 120- and 240-volts AC outlets, high-speed DC chargers, and even in-wheel electric motors can be used to power the Aptera.

It takes 2

The Aptera is a unique looking three-wheeled vehicle that seats two passengers. It can’t be categorized as a small car as its height is around 57 inches and the width is 88 inches. When compared to other electric vehicles, the front wheel tracking distance—which is around 77 inches—is larger than the Tesla Model S. With a luggage capacity of 25 cubic feet, it’s larger than a Toyota Prius.

Two new FWD limited editions

The solar-powered car has multiple configurations such as multiple solar panels, motor, and battery, that work at different ranges. The company also announced on September 18th of this year that there will be two new front-wheel drive limited editions, which will include the paradigm edition and the paradigm +.

The former will have a 400-mile range and will be sold at $29,900, while the latter will have a full range of 1000 miles at the price of $44,900.

When will it be available?

At the beginning of this year, the CEO of Aptera Motors stated that if enough funds are collected, the production of the Aptera can begin in about nine months. The first few prototypes were released in the first quarter of 2020, after which the company has started accepting pre-orders on December 4th.
