Fujifilm has recently
made an announcement regarding its brand new 50mm X-series lens which has an
unprecedented f/1.0 aperture. This is historic, as the XF 50mmF1.0 R WR is the
first ever f/1 autofocus lens for mirrorless camera – at least according to
Fujifilm. This will be the 35th X-series lens that the company has
ever produced! Furthermore, specifications reveal that its field of view is
approximately 75mm-equiovalent on Fujifilm’s APS-C sensors.

Previously the brand’s
fastest lens was known to be 56mm f/1.2 and was the aperture that other
companies like Canon and Nikon tried to top out. Canon actually came up with an
autofocus 50mm f/1.0 for its line of DSLRs, but that venture was short-lived.  Nikon and Leica also made f/0.95 lenses but
it solely focused on the manual focus.

Large apertures give
users the ability to achieve more depth of field. It’s also faster with regards
to the shutter speeds but lower with ISO settings.

Although it took time,
Fujifilm’s latest tool will be a hit amongst the
photographers! The new XF 50mmF1.9 R WR can be purchased for $1,499.95 this
fall.
