Google has decided to
introduce custom backgrounds for its videoconferencing platform, Meet. Now,
whenever you open Google’s Chrome browser, you will also have access to the
feature in Chrome OS, Windows, and Mac laptops as well. As far as mobile phones
as concerned, the feature is coming soon.

If you are wondering how to use this new feature of video conferencing app, you don’t have to add
any browser extensions to activate the custom backgrounds. In fact, you should
be able to add the background images from your own photo collection. In
addition, you may gain images from the library provided by Google, including
landscapes, abstract art, and offices.

It will take a week or
so before this option becomes available to all Google Meet users.

Other videoconferencing
services like Microsoft Teams and Zoom already have this feature. In fact,
they’ve added a couple more background options to suit schooling and work needs
during the pandemic.

In the last couple of
months, Google Meet has added a blurring option for background, real-time
captioning, low-light mode, hand-raising feature, and a tile view display that
allows up to 49 participants.

Google Meet integrated
with Gmail back in May – a sidebar link was added and it permits up to 100
people without any time limit. According to the
third-earnings revealed by Sundar Pichai, Meet earned up to 235 million daily
through audio meetings and 7.5 billion daily video calls.
