After the livestream on
Friday, iFixit published a complete breakdown of its teardown for both iPhone
12 and iPhone 12 Pro on its YouTube channel. And as we guessed it, both phones are exactly the same
inside and out.
Like, the displays are
interchangeable and they can be swapped between the two phones. This makes
complete sense keeping in mind that the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro feature 6.1-inch
Super Retina XDR screens.
Now when you keep aside
the camera shields, it’s tough to separate the two phones. This is when iFixit
pointed out that the phones are similar in layout – so if 12 Pro has additional
camera sensor and a LiDar scanner, the other one packs the plastic spacer.
Hence, if you’re not
familiar with the new lineup, you should know that iPhone 12 includes a dual
camera module whereas the 12 Pro has a triple camera setup along with an
additional 12-megapixel telephoto lens.
When you compare the
similarities between the two phones, the teardown points out that apart from
the serial numbers, the logic boards on the phones are basically identical. In
addition, both the phones feature similar Face ID, flash modules, and Lightning
connector assemblies.
You must be wondering
what the situation is with the battery life – the exact size. First of all,
both phones have the exact 2,815 mAh battery.
Apple has also
suggested that the new A14 Bionic chip helps out with that. So, on a busy day,
the 12 Pro will last you for approximately 7 and half hours. The battery is no
longer in the basic L-shaped design, but it’s the same as
its predecessors. As per the rumors, Apple has used the parts that were cheaper
and cost low with the addition of 5G connectivity. Finally, iFixit has given
the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro a 6 out of 10 on the quotient of reparability.
