After many years of waiting. Motorola is announcing its biggest flagship phone series on April 22nd, according to a statement released by the tech company yesterday. The announcement will be made in a virtual event and Motorola confirmed the date and time in a tweet saying that further details regarding the phone will be revealed later.

Rumors suggest that the company will announce two devices under new Edge branding. The news and speculations about the feature already give us a pretty good idea about what to expect as Motorola was supposed to announce these devices at the Mobile World Congress in February that was canceled due to coronavirus.

Now this virtual event comes as a surprise because usually, the company focuses on mid-range affordable devices and a cutting edge flagship phone does not exactly fall under this category.

The Edge Plus is expected to feature a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 or 12GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery, based on a recent report from XDA-Developers. Alongside the 108-megapixel sensor seen on the back of the phone, the handset is expected to have two more cameras: a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera.

Last week, some pictures of the model were leaked which show it to have a hole-punch front-facing camera and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Experts say that Motorola might also release a cheaper version of the phone with less powerful hardware and a 640mega-pixel main sensor.
