Receive a text notification and crash your iPhone. Sounds unrealistic? Well, it isn’t.

A new bug has been discovered that seems to crash Apple’s iPhone or iPad as soon as a text notification pops. Basically, when an iPhone user receives a text with Sindhi characters, this bug infects the device. Sindhi is the official language of a Province called Sindh in Pakistan. The language is also spoken in India.

The bug is also known as a text bomb and is used by actors to bully or troll their targets. It first originated in the telegram group and has since gone viral on Twitter.

Although the text contains an Italian flag, people soon discovered that the bug is caused by the Sindhi characters and not the flag. This tactic is not new. In fact, it’s been in use for a couple of years now where people have sent a string of texts to crash a phone.

Well, the only way to save your iPhone from this bug is to switch off your notifications for messaging from all social media apps. So far, it is the only way to stop this malicious activity, and no other solution has been found yet. Indeed, sources suggest that iOS 13.4.5 beta seems to have this issue resolved.
