Tuesday saw one of the most unexpected yet exciting US politics news as Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the United States, literally ripped Trump’s speech apart as he finished his State of the Union address.
She could be seen standing right behind the President and tearing the pages of the speech in half as loud applause erupts from the supporters of the Republican party.

When asked about her action, she said “it was a manifesto of mistruths” and ripping the speech in half “was the courteous thing to do considering the alternative.”
Before Donald Trump began his address, he refused to shake Pelosi’s outstretched hand. While the supporters say it is because he did not see her, the dislike that Mr President has had for the Democrats could suggest the refusal to be deliberate.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi tweeted about Trumps’ actions saying, “Democrats will never stop extending the hand of friendship to get the job done #ForThePeople.

We will work to find common ground where we can, but will stand our ground where we cannot. #SOTU”
The White House also clapped back with a tweet after Pelosi’s video of tearing the pages went viral. The tweet said,
“One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. The survival of a child born at 21 weeks. The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller. A service member’s reunion with his family. That’s her legacy.
Multiple critics of Pelosi used sexist slang against her and categorised the action of tearing Donald Trump’s speech as a need for attention.

But if the intention was to do so, then Pelosi was highly successful in achieving her goal.
Her action was talked about as much as the State of the Union speech and Liberals praised the gesture for its boldness and honesty.
President Trump has been accused of lying about the number of people receiving healthcare and lowering the price of medical prescriptions in the address and Pelosi’s refusal to accept the authenticity of his address resonated with a lot of leftist Americans.
